What Exactly Does Dog Running Include and Entail?
In short, we run dogs. K9 On The Run Mobile brings an exercise service for your dog right to your home. When we show up you will get to experience the happiest thirty minutes of your dog’s whole day all in the comfort of our temperature-controlled mobile K9 rolling fitness center.
Our mobile K9 fitness center comes complete with state-of-the-art equipment which will allow any size and breed to run in safety and comfort. If you would like to be there to inspire your furry friend along that’s great, however, if you prefer one of our motivated trainers to handle the encouragement for the day we will be happy to accommodate you.
K9 On The Run Mobile sessions are more than just something fun for your dog to do; they also allow the release of your dog’s energy quickly, which in turn allows your dog to achieve a calm demeanor and mindset for the rest of the day. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes. Weekly 30-minute sessions are recommended for optimal results.
How it Works
Ready
We come to you at your location and introduce your pup to our treadmill system in our safe and comfortable treadmill van. As we begin we need to be patient as the dog learns about the treadmill and it will not harm them. Onec that occurs we walk the dog on the moving surface and they learn it will not make them fall. To encourage your dog we use fun toys and positive motivation. Our initial sessions will be designed to develop and learn a new skill, and understand how much fun this new treadmill is.
Set
During the first excersize session, your dog will quickly learn that they can increase their pace on the treadmill. Most will walk well on the first or second session. We encourage them to maintain a steady pace. We will be by your dogs side the whole time as we motivate and encourage them! As we work with your dog we will assess their physical capabilities as well as their enjoyment level, so your dog is happy, gets a good workout, but is never pushed past their limits. They can take breaks, and stop any time they are tired.
Go!
Once your dog understands and begins to develop confidence in the equipment and their own capabilities, we will encourage them to begin running for a brief time and follow up with a walk and cool down. We provide excersize programs appropriate to your dogs physical abilites. Many dogs eventually crave sprint sessions once they have built up their endurance and stamina. Regardless of the ideal workout for your dog, we always slow the session to a walk at reasonable intervals and provide rest and water breaks.

This is a 30-45 minute session for first time runners.

Edit: 2 months in - been a great investment for Cooper. We've had to skip a few weeks here and there, and I can tell the weeks we skip. If you're on the fence about this, definitely give it a try. 🙂
